-FESTIVAL VENDORS SOUGHT The 5th annual Union County Heritage Festival will be held SATURDAY OCTOBER 17th. from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.  Music, craft,food booths, Heritage Idol competition and  Heritage Olympics as well as the 4-H competition will be held at Wilson Park; the quilt and  fine arts show  and competition will be held at the Roy Acuff Union Museum & Library.   Applications are available by calling Marie, 679-1071 or by going on-line at www.gibsonwebservices.com

-MOMS Club of Maynardville Area-wondering what kind of fun activities to do now that your children are out of school? Join the MOMS Club. The MOMS Club is for stay-at-home Moms with children from infant to school age. We have monthly meetings at Plainview Community Center the first Wednesday of every month, speakers, playgroups and many other fun group activities including scrap-booking, arts and crafts, and monthly moms night out. Summer Reading at the Book Station for children in Pre-K through 12th grade will be held from May 30 to July 24. The first day to sign up will be May 30 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the book station in Sharps Chapel on Sharps Chapel Road next to the Senior Center/Community Center.

Handgun Training Class July 11-Tennessee handgun permit training class will be held in the training room of the Claiborne County Justice Center in Tazewell, on Saturday, July 11, 2009 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Ran or Shine. Participants need to bring a safe handgun, 50 rounds of factory ammunition, ear and eye protection. Successful completion will allow you to carry a handgun in Tennessee and several other states. This year’s annual CHILDREN’S CLOTHING DISTRIBUTION will be Sat. July 18. At this time Fairview Baptist Church, 7424 Fairview Rd. Corryton, will be distributing good, clean children’s clothing for infants thru high school free of charge to all that are in need. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. There are no qualifications.
